Moonrise Halloween Kingdom

October 31, 2012

Happy Halloween everyone! This year I was finally able to convince my fiancé to do couple costumes with me... Suzy Bishop and Sam Shakusky from Moonrise Kingdom! Moonrise Kingdom was my favorite film this summer, such a delightful piece with quirky characters! Believe it or not, I came up with this idea and pulled everything together only one day before a Halloween party! Luckily, I have a vast collection of vintage dresses so I already have this little 60s dress and Chris already has an army green shirt and shorts. I made the hat he wore by attaching a raccoon tail keychain to a furry hat of mine, and I also drew and handmade all the patches and pins (they are exactly the same as the ones on Sam's shirt in the film) and sew them onto his shirt! All I had to buy was a toy binocular and some fake flowers! Besides the fact that most people (those who have not seen the film) thought he was just a boy scout and I was just a school girl, I think we totally nailed it!

  5. I can't even begin to tell you how much I adore this couple costume - it might be the best one I've seen this year (but then again I adored the movie so I'm a little biased). Loving all the badges you made as well. :)
