This will be the last documented outfit of 2012, ending it with houndstooth and oxblood. I snapped these photos during my whirlwind trip to SF a few days ago. My fiance and I go see the Christmas tree in Union Square every year, it's rather a tradition. I, of course, squeezed in some times for shopping before heading over the bay to hang out with my family in Oakland but unfortunately I didn't buy anything. All the stores were a chaos with merchandise and shoppers everywhere, it was so messy that I lost the mood to shop. It was just too much of an effort. Anyways, I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday!

As much as I look forward to moving out of Santa Cruz, I must say I am lucky to live right on the coast. When the light reflects off of the ocean at that perfect time of the day, everything glows, everything looks better. Here I am, tonal dressing in variations of beige, with different textures. Fur, lace, and pleats! I am obsessed with this shimmery pleated skirt from Motel. The copperish blush color is so lovely and unique, these photos don't do it justice! And the slits... they definitely add a little somethin' somethin'!

Merry Christmas!!! I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday, spending times with loved ones, eating tons of good food, and getting lots of presents! I sure am having a wonderful time relaxing and enjoying my SIX days off. I work in retails so you can only imagine the craziness I am missing out on (yup, totally being sarcastic)! Anyways, onto the outfit... I used to avoid wearing black completely because black simply seemed so serious to me. I didn't think black goes with my style or my personality until I realized that I just need to find the right pieces of black! Like this outfit here, everything is black but everything also has a feminine touch. Black sweater with cute polkadots, black leather skirt with girly perforated details, and black booties with fun sparkly sequins! Black isn't so bad afterall!

First of all, I would like to apologize for the lack of posts lately. I have only been posting once or twice a week because I never have time to shoot before work and certainly can't afterward when it's dark. The sporadic rain here and there does not help either! I actually wore this outfit yesterday but of course I did not get a chance to document it. So, this morning on my day off (when I could have been makeup free and stayed in my PJs all day) I put on the exact outfit and had my fiance quickly shoot these photos for me before he headed to work. Doing what I do best here, mixing and matching. Granny status above knee with vintage knit flower sweater and Free People knit dress paired with edgy jewelry and these Jeffrey Campbell Auna boots that I so very much fell in love with. They are like the Coltrane but born in the 70s. The contrast of the buckled hardware and the chunky wooden platforms are just out of this world!

I went for a walk along the beach by the lighthouse after a Sunday brunch in my newest Plomo Simona boots in baby periwinkle blue. I have been eying these babies for the longest time but I couldn't justify spending nearly $300 on them but luckily I snatched them 40% off from Solestruck's giant black friday sale. These penny loafer like booties are made of 100% leather inside and out, they are so soft and comfortable to walk in! What I love the most though is the color, I have never seen shoes in such an unique baby periwinkle blue! I paired them with an ombre knit sweater, acid wash leggings, and a studded leather backpack. Well, there you have it, my lazy Sunday look!

A friend once told me that I am really good at mixing two very different looks into one, combining pieces that don't necessarily go together but somehow I make it work. A rather girly look with romantic floral, light riding pants, and pastel oxfords, completed with a cargo jacket to toughen up the  look. I can never stray away from pastels, so I try to mix in other elements to make it more appropriate for winter times.
