I just got back from a mini getaway to Las Vegas! I haven't gone on vacation in a year and this was much needed. Although it was only for three days, I enjoyed being away from work and reality for a little bit! I wanted to explore other things rather than just casinos, shows and nightclubs. We took a day trip to the Hoover Dam and saw the newly built bypass, also known as the Mike O'Callaghan – Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge, and apparently it is the first concrete-steel arch bridge built in the US and the longest concrete arch bridge in the Western Hemisphere. I drove pass the Hoover Dam on the way to Arizona with my family nearly 15 years ago but this time we walked on it and went inside to see the power plants. Enough of facts... when I was packing for the trip, I knew I wanted to wear this amazing vintage dress for the Hoover Dam tour. I adore the burgundy and black dots and paisley. I actually had the perfect hat to go with the dress but unfortunately I forgot to bring it with me!

Some Dots, a Dam, and a Bridge.

I couldn't think of a better match for these shoes than a pair of sparkly socks! These clear and patent leather oxfords make me want to buy more socks! To be honest, I have never been too crazy about socks, socks with heels are seen over and over again on runways, socks with tights have been rocking pages of lookbooks and catalogs for years. Today was a hot day, too hot for tights, and I feel a little gross going bare with no socks in "actual" shoes (my definition of "actual" shoes is shoes that cover most of your feet such as oxfords, booties and boots; you know, the kinds that don't really allow your feet to breathe) so I gave these socks a try... and I actually like how they look! Perhaps from now on I will start incorporating socks into my outfit!

As for the rest of my outfit, both the dress and the sweater are from my work Sway. I have seen and owe many holey sweaters but this particular one catches my eyes with its closely knitted panel on the front. That opaque panel and the loose holey knit make an interesting contrast. For the floral dress, I love the cut out on both sides of the waist. It's a modern take on a tailored, collared, buttoned up shirt dress.

Sometimes the better things are the things people don't talk about often. TBA, a label from the UK by the talented Binbin McNiven, is one of those better things. Although TBA is available on many major online stores such as ASOS and Urban Outfitters, I consider it rather low key. Its silky silhouette and one of a kind collar designs are what caught my eyes. This paisley silk dress with the most amazing collar is just one of the many TBA dresses I owe. All I need was a brick wall and a pair of metallic flats to compliment its beauty.

To be honest, I don't own many clothing made of 100% silk simply because I am afraid of ruining it, but this "I Love You" silk blouse by Vivetta is too irresistible! This blouse is especially precious to me because it was a gift from Vivi of Vivetta herself! In return I gave her one of my "Bear with me" teddy bear purses (see here). If you are not familiar with Vivetta, check it out here. Vivetta is an up and coming label by Italian designer Vivi Ponti. Vivi's design is always fun and nicely tailored. She is also a really nice gal and a fellow cat lover too!

(Yes, the title is from a She & Him song.) I moved to a new apartment about 3 months ago and let me tell you something... I am still not done decorating it! As you can see, the wall behind the couch is bare (waiting to get my oil painting from my parents' house to put there), but I just want to share with you this gorgeous vintage crochet blanket I got last week. I love how the yellow roses compliment my tiffany blue pillows. I wanted to keep everything else more neutral so I wore this beautifully crocheted vintage knit dress. This is one of those dresses that you don't wear often in fear of ruining it because of how delicate it is.

I am all about details when it comes to clothing, interior design, and even work. Many of the Spring 2012 collections are very detail-oriented with really intricate design, delicate fabric, and complex patterns and cut outs. I can't keep my eyes off of them, especially Valentino Spring 2012 collection! Instead of the usual head to toe shot, here I have posted close up images so you can really focus on all the elements... Need I say more? Just look!
