This is typically what I look like when I am traveling or having to be out and about all day.

1) A pair of flats is a must! I love heels but let's be real, I much rather be comfortable and be able to enjoy my day without being in pain every single steps!

2) A bag large enough to carry all my essentials as well as my DSLR and extra lens. This Sole Society satchel is the perfect size.

3) Jeans... you just can't go wrong, especially when you have an awesome pair like these two toned ones by James Jeans.

4) I love a simple loose fitted knit top. Easy, comfortable, effortless.

5) When I am getting in and out of a car hopping from places to places, I tend to wear darker outerwear. You know, just in case I accidentally lean on a dirty wall or something. I love this textured wool-blend coat with 3/4 sleeves from F21, so classic and sleek.

6) Sunglasses and hat... honestly they are with me at all times, traveling or not. I love this beige wide brim fedora by one of my favorite hat companies, Mu Du London!

By the way, these photos were taken last weekend in Monterey! Here's a fun fact... there were so many blooper shots in the bunch since the waves kept getting closer and closer and I was afraid I would get splashed!

Last weekend, I had a much needed getaway in Monterey. My fiancé and I had a wonderful stay at the InterContinental The Clement Monterey which kindly hosted us in a stunning ocean view room with fireplace and balcony. Modern and sleek decor with a bed so fluffy I fell right to sleep! Did I also mention how spectacular the sunset was? The sunset photo below was taken from our room! The location was prime as well, right next to the aquarium and everything else was in such close proximity. It certainly was a successful staycation!

It just so happened that the day I decided to wear colors was the day the weather suddenly sprung up to the mid 70s! What perfect timing! Neutrals are all I have been wearing lately, so I thought I would cheer up a bit and style up some colors! Blue... where do I begin? My relationship with the color blue is a strange one. I don't usually gravitate toward blue, whether it is navy, cobalt, or baby blue. However, when I do wear it, I end up really liking it. It's strange. Perhaps blue is the new black? Who knows! The pairing of my cobalt blue coat and pink sweater top was inspired by the colors of my jeweled floral loafers. Not only are these shoes cute, they are also very comfortable, perfect for walking around all day during my much needed weekend getaway in Monterey! Speaking of Monterey, these photos were taken at the beautiful InterContinental The Clement Monterey which kindly hosted my stay. Check back Wednesday for a more detailed travel post!

It is so weird to think that I used to be crazy about colors. It is even weirder to think that I didn't use to wear black, at all! Funny how things change... I feel that my look has matured quite a bit over the past year and I have been drawn to mostly neutral palette and simple pieces. Like this ensemble here, just a turtleneck sweater dress with another sweater tied to the waist. Simple as that. I did, however, dress it up with my awesome new shoes. These Bernadette booties by Plomo is out of this world... the creamy taupe color, the criss cross chained straps, and the gorgeous tweed detailing! Keep it simple, but keep it fun too!

01entryway
The entryway, to me, is the most important part of a home. It is the first thing anyone sees and I am a firm believer in making a great first impression. But until I live in a real house with a real front door with a light filled entryway, this will do for now. My apartment gets great light everywhere BUT the entryway, so I do my best to make it as welcoming as possible! I love my console table, it is sleek and modern with a touch of vintage which is a style I can't seem to let go of. I styled it with a lovely woven bench and a classic striped rug. As for my gallery wall, I kept it rather simple... a couple of vintage cat embroidered art, some typography prints, and two incredible handpainted wooden frames by Delta Girl Frames. I especially love the herringbone one with a photo of me and my fiancé in front of the Eiffel Tower (my favorite photo of us)! Anyways, are you surprised that there are two home decor posts in a row? That's right! I am really trying to get the ball rolling considering how I've been at my new place for 7 months now! More coming soon! And to recap... check out Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3 of my apartment tour!
