Another wonderful meal we had in Portland was at Mother's Bistro & Bar. When I think of the word "mother" when associated with food, I think of home cooked meals. And that is exactly what chef and owner Lisa Schroeder has prepared at her restaurant... taking traditional homemade favorites and refining them with classical cooking techniques. We started off with a couple of appetizers -- $15,000 Dungeness crab cake and Pierogi. Why $15,000 you asked? Lisa told us that the crab cake was of the two dishes she mastered at culinary school in which the tuition was $30,000. I say it was worth the money, so delicious! And Pierogi is a potato-filled dumpling, one of my favorite thing ever! As for entrées, I had the chicken and dumplings and the meatloaf and gravy. Jeremy had mac and cheese and the pulled pork. You must be wondering why we had two entrées each... luckily you can order half sized portion, that way you can try more dishes if you have a hard time deciding! Everything was so hearty and comforting, needless to say we were stuffed! Thank you Lisa for having us at Mother's! We shall be back!

I adore feminine styles but I am also drawn to edgy pieces. When the two are combined... Boom! I get the best of both worlds! Here is one of the many outfits I wore during my travel in Portland. This leather moto jacket with floral and studded details is everything! I am so in love with it! I paired it with a faux wrapped midi dress, simple black leather booties, and a cute studded purse. Portland was a bit chilly but hey I rather be cold and have a nice outfit!

So I finally made it up to Portland! Not sure why it took me so long when it's only less than an hour and a half plane ride away. I knew Portland was very laid back, but it was a lot more chill than I had imagined. Luckily it didn't rain too much while we were there, in fact Sunday was sunny! We stayed at Hotel Rose downtown and were greeted with champagne, cheese plate, and our favorite coconut water upon arrival. Our room had a beautiful balcony overlooking the city on the waterfront, and the comfiest bed I have ever slept in in a hotel. It seriously felt like I was sleeping in a cloud! The best part about Hotel Rose was its central location. We literally walked everywhere! Portland was relaxing, we pretty much spent the entire weekend drinking coffee and stuffing ourselves with good food. Anyways, I am excited to be checking off all the US cities on my bucket list this year. Next month, I am heading to St. Louis and Chicago (will be my first time for both)!

We went straight to brunch after landing in Portland last Saturday. Headwaters at The Heathman Hotel, located in the heart of downtown, has great decor and even better food! We barely got to sip our mimosa and old fashioned before all the dishes started coming out! For starters, we had smoked salmon and sablefish with smoked herring schmear and this amazing chorizo scrambled eggs on flatbread. The fish was so fresh and the flatbread was simply mouthwatering! Jeremy ordered the steak and eggs with this creamy spinach goodness while I had the corned beef hash. It was St. Patrick's Day weekend after all and I haven't had any corned beef yet! Brunch was delectable and the service was remarkable. Thank you Headwaters!

Ruffles are still going strong and I am still not over this trend yet. It simply makes dressing up ten times easier, especially when you want to throw a top and a pair of jeans on in the morning when you are rushing out the door! I love this pink sweater with ruffle sleeves, paired with black ripped jeans, Coach patchwork leather bag, and floral embroidered mules with faux fur lining. On a different note, I am so excited that today is Friday. In fact, it is a long weekend for me as I am flying out to spend the weekend in Portland tomorrow! Can't wait!
